Honeywell Faqs
Can I use a humidifier with an electronic air cleaner?
A: Yes. Evaporative type humidifiers release water as pure vapor. Water vapor will not create any problems with an electronic air cleaner. Misting or spray type units mounted on the return air plenum could cause problems with an electronic air cleaner.
Should my humidifier operate during the summer months?
A: Generally, it is not necessary to humidify during the summer months as the air is naturally more humid in most parts of the country.
How much water should my whole house humidifier use?
A: The amount of water that a humidifier uses depends on the type of humidifier. A flow through humidifier (HE220/HE225/HE260/HE265/HE360/HE365) will use between three and four gallons of water per hour of operation. One half to three quarters of a gallon will be evaporated per hour to condition the air, while the rest flows down the humidifier pad. As it does so, the water flushes mineral deposits down the drain, thereby allowing longer service intervals between pad replacement. The amount of water used by a steam humidifier and the disk humidifier depends on the application. The HE160 disk humidifier will use about one gallon of water for every one gallon evaporated. An HE440 steam humidifier will use about six gallons of water for every 1 gallon of water evaporated. The HE440 steam humidifier uses an RO filter to make sure the water going into the humidifier is filtered and clean. For every one gallon of water that goes through the RO filter and into the humidifier, five gallons of water is used to clean the RO filter.
How easy is it to install a Honeywell whole house Humidifier?
A: To install a humidifier you must be comfortable cutting several holes in you furnace ductwork. You should also be familiar with low voltage wiring, as there are several electrical components that will need to be installed. You will also want to have a familiarity with plumbing, as you will be installing a saddle valve and running both drain and supply lines. If you are uncomfortable with any of these operations, we would recommend that you speak with a local heating and cooling contractor about installing your Honeywell humidifier for you.
